If you want to enjoy quality coffee and delicious food with beautiful views and unique atmospheres, then you are going to love the cafes in Antigua, Guatemala!

Guatemala is known for its high quality coffee and Antigua is home to some of the best coffee shops in Latin America. Quaint gardens, rooftop terraces, and views of the surrounding volcanoes are some of the things that make cafes in Antigua unique.

Whether you are looking for a brunch spot to meet with friends, a space to work with reliable wifi, or just a nice atmosphere to relax in and enjoy a coffee, there is no shortage of cute cafes in Antigua.

I spent 3 weeks in Antigua and I made it my goal to try a different cafe or coffee shop every day.

Here is a roundup of 9 amazing cafes that you should visit in Antigua!

Cafe El Portal

Cafe El Portal is home to one of the best iced coffees I’ve ever had. They have a variety of food, including delicious sandwiches that are a bit pricey but, in my opinion, worth it for the atmosphere. There are two Cafe El Portal’s in Antigua. The one I went to is in the center of the city, right near the famous Arch. They have a main floor and a rooftop terrace. When I went during a weekday morning, I had the whole rooftop to myself with incredible views of all the volcanoes surrounding the city!

El Viejo Cafe

El Viejo is a cafe, bakery, and restaurant all in one, and it’s one of my favourite spots in all of Antigua! If you need a coffee and a bite to eat in the morning, it’s a great place to make a quick stop. If you have work to do and want to sit in a beautiful garden and enjoy a nice meal, they have lots of delicious options. The service is great and the atmosphere is beautiful, so you really can’t go wrong with spending time here.

Sahil Coffee

If you are looking for a nice and quiet co-working space with great wifi, Cafe Sahil is the place for you. While it’s a fairly plain and simple atmosphere, it has all you need for a productive day of work. The staff are lovely, the coffee is great, and their cafe is a social enterprise that supports local farmers.

Cafe Don Diego

Cafe Don Diego has great food and drinks for a very reasonable price. I enjoyed a delicious crepe and iced coffee here. They have a pretty garden in the back that is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city so it’s a nice quiet spot to relax or get some work done. The cafe is run by a very lovely Guatemalan family.

Amanecer Juice Bar & Coffee

While it’s not your typical ‘cafe’, Amanecer Juice Bar is a great spot for a morning coffee or a healthy snack. They have the most delicious smoothies and smoothie bowls for a good price. While there’s not a ton of seating, it’s a nice, bright and cheery atmosphere.

12 Onzas

12 Onzas is a cute modern cafe. They have nice seating in the main cafe and there are also a few tables in a shared garden in the back. There are lots of great options for breakfast and lunch, as well as very unique drinks. I had an iced red velvet coffee with blueberry french toast and it did not disappoint! They had fast wifi and outlets at every table, so it’s a great place to work.

Cafe Condesa

Cafe Condesa is one of the most popular cafes in Antigua. They are located in a cozy little garden right by the main square. They have huge smoothies and appetizers and use fresh, organic, and local products to make all of their food.

Cafe Cafe Guatemala

If you are looking for a cozy cafe with a great atmosphere, Cafe Cafe Guatemala is definitely worth going to! It has great music and a variety of seating options for gathering with friends, working, or enjoying a meal. They had specialty coffees and lots of really healthy food options for reasonable prices.

Starbucks

While I usually try to avoid chains and only go to local cafes when I’m traveling, I couldn’t resist checking out this Starbucks! The prices are similar to other Starbucks around the world, so it’s more expensive than the other local cafes in town. It has a gorgeous atmosphere that is perfect for sitting and working, reading a book, or hanging out with others. The space is huge and there are lots of nice seats in the garden and in the surrounding rooms where you can gather with friends. They have live music on the weekends where they play traditional Guatemalan instruments. Overall, it is a very unique experience that I would highly recommend.
